NO PLACE FOR BULLYING
It’s difficult enough to navigate a world full of rude and heartless people, but it’s even more challenging when simple tasks are hindered by physical illness or injury. Such is the case with Ashley Brady, an amputee from Miamisburg, Ohio.
Brady, 26, suffered the loss of her leg after a car accident. Since then she has been learning to walk on her new prosthetic device. She’s made excellent progress, but unfortunately fell numerous times as she tried to make her way from her apartment to her parking spot. So the apartment complex designated a handicap parking spot to accomodate her needs.
After seeing another vehicle parked in her handicapped-only spot, and lacking a disability plate, she left “a stern and confident” note to correct the owner of the other car. Easy enough, yes? Until the owner of the car left a vicious letter for Ashley Brady.
“Hey handicap! First, never place your hands on my car again! Second, honey you ain’t the only one with “struggles.” You want pity go to a one leg support group! You messed with the wrong one! I don’t care what your note said shove it, but you touch my car again I will file a report, I am not playing! I let the office know the cry baby one leg touches my property I will cause trouble so go cry your struggles to someone who cares cause I’m walking away with both mine! -(expletive)”
The case remains unresolved, yet it brings up the issue of bullying. It is beyond the school yards and frat houses. It lives in our neighborhoods and walks our streets. The only way it ends is to be STERN and CONFIDENT in our defense of those who need our help.
